United States: A Texas high school teacher had all her four (4) limbs amputated after believing that she was suffering from the common cold. The health authorities have mentioned that all her limbs were amputated, and she became “mummified.”
The teacher has been identified as Sherri Moody, 51, who taught students in Deer Park. During the starting days, Moody thought that she was suffering from the common cold and paid little mind to it. However, after some days, she experienced a high fever and one night, she woke up with trouble breathing.
After following all these, she immediately went to the hospital. In this regard, she was quoted saying, “I’ve never gone to the ER before in my life. I was very healthy, very in shape. I ate right, exercised,” according to TODAY.com.
After she went to the hospital, health experts treating her observed that she was suffering from double pneumonia. In addition to this, the infection led to streptococcus, the bacteria responsible for causing strep throat. The doctors underlined that after getting infected with these many infections, her body had gone into septic shock.
While telling about the same to TODAY, the husband of Sherri Moody, David, stated, “I had to Google what sepsis was. I had no idea. We’re pretty healthy people. I recognized real quickly that we were in a severe situation. I was scared to pieces.”
A Category 5 hurricane was coming: David!
Her husband further briefed that Sherri was already taking medications for arthritis, and the medications had weakened the ability of her body to fight infection.
He further described the condition of his wife and stated that it was “like a category five hurricane coming in.” David added, “She had nothing to fight with. It’s like she went to war with no soldiers.”
Sherri was placed in a deep sleep by doctors. They used medicines to help her organs get enough blood, but this affected the blood flow to her arms and legs. David, while explaining the ordeal, stated, “I literally watched my wife’s feet and hands die. They were black, and they were mummified,” according to TODAY.
Sherri’s life was saved, but lives were amputated!
Doctors outlined that her life was saved, but Sherri’s arms and legs needed to be amputated. She said that after hearing the news, she cried but eventually felt calm. Her arms and legs were amputated below her elbows and knees.
According to the reports, Sherri’s legs and arms were amputated in June 2023, and after seeking treatment, she was back home in the month of August.
