Washington DC, United States: President of the United States Joe Biden won’t appear on the New Hampshire Democratic primary ballot because the state didn’t follow the new Democratic Party rules that require South Carolina to hold its primary contest first.

The Democratic Party decided to make South Carolina the first state for the primary elections instead of Iowa and New Hampshire.

New Hampshire law says they vote first, but the national Democrats wanted South Carolina to be first because it’s more diverse. Biden won’t run in New Hampshire because of this. His campaign told the New Hampshire Democrats about this in a letter.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Campaign chair of Biden, through a letter to New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley, wrote that President Biden will not be submitting his candidacy declaration for the New Hampshire ballot ahead of the deadline on Friday.

According to the reports, she outlined that Biden has been anticipating seeing his name on the general election ballot of New Hampshire on Election Day, which is November 5, 2024, after he secured the nomination for Democratic Party for President at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, in August 2023, according to the reports by Reuters.

Reportedly, no major opposition has been faced by President Biden, 80, in his drive to be the nominee of the party.

While responding to Rodriguez’s letter, Buckley mentioned, “The reality is that Joe Biden will win the New Hampshire first-in-the-nation primary in January, win renomination in Chicago and will be re-elected next November,” according to the reports by Reuters.

Former President Donald Trump’s New Hampshire sign up

Former President Donald Trump made history in New Hampshire by signing up for the presidential primary. He’s the first person who has served as president to do this more than once.

In 2016, Trump personally filed for the contest on the first day of the filing period. But in 2020, he had Vice President Mike Pence do it for him, which was a common practice among incumbents.

However, on Monday, he did it himself again, and this was a new development.

He wrote on the special poster that all candidates are asked to sign, saying, “Vote for Trump and solve your problems.”

It’s worth noting that Trump won the Republican primaries in New Hampshire in both 2016 and 2020, but he lost the state in both of the general elections.
