United States: The cases related to influenza have been increasing among the younger population of the United States, which has sounded alarm among the local health authorities of the states of the US.
Recently, horrifying data has been revealed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, which showed a jump in the number of deaths linked to flu. As per the official data, three more children have succumbed to the infection.
Since the update shared on Wednesday, the death count in North Carolina has registered approximately 26 flu-related deaths, according to witn.com. Following the recent surge in deaths, the total death toll has now reached up to 232, which was down to 196 during the last season.
Out of the total deaths, ten (10) were children, according to the recently shared report, six of those aged between five and 17, and four were below the age of five. The health organization raised concern because DHHS has reported the death of two young adults, aged between 18 and 24, for the first time this season.
In addition to this, the health agency underscored that the maximum of deaths, which is 143, are of people aged 65 and above.
Pediatric influenza deaths across the US!
Along with North Carolina, Tarrant County in Texas has also reported its first pediatric influenza death of the season. Following the death, the situation was addressed by the Tarrant County Public Health Department through a statement, which read that the deceased child was dealing with a medical condition.
However, the details regarding the hometown and age of the child were not released in the public domain. Not only in this season, the death has been the first reported pediatric death since 2019 across the County.
Pediatric deaths in Texas!
According to the reports by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), after this most recent death, the number of deaths has reached three (3) in Texas this season.
In addition to this, the total number of pediatric deaths across the United States is up to 65, as per the CDC.
Hospital situation in Texas!
The Department of State Health Services of Texas has unveiled that the hospitals are overflooded with cases related to pediatric flu cases. In addition, approximately ten (10) schools in North Texas have been closed due to the surge in illness in the past month.
